Cloud based capabilities have become central to many operations, including transportation, logistics, business intelligence, and financial operations. The commoditization of compute, storage, and memory have thrust the capabilities of companies and government into a reliance of centralized “cloud” based systems in key areas of the United States. This centralization requires large infrastructure upgrades to the broadband capability of rural areas to enable equal access to these resources.

While the US Government is developing programs to provide equal access, these solutions will take time to reach key locations and markets. This will leave companies and organizations that frequent austere locations or rural areas to be prohibited in using lower cost options and present a barrier to entry.
